Wow - I have had the
Wow - I have had the opposite experience. I always find the Ada Library to be vibrant and exciting. It's definitely not "quiet" like libraries were in the old days but who wants to go back to that? The staff upstairs and down is always helpful and full of great tips. I love the Ada Library just like it is!
I think that a lot of people
I think that a lot of people would like to go back to the "quiet" at libraries, especially if they were working at a computer filling out a resume or job application or just searching for information on the web. Who needs screaming kids or blaring cell phones???
I have enjoyed using this
I have enjoyed using this library for many years, and have always found the staff profesional and helpful...thank you very much. In reply to (patron), I think it is RUDE OF YOU, to stand in judgement of others. Put you stone down. Thank you
Thanks for all your comments
Thanks for all your comments on the Library, its vibrancy and occasional loudness. Today's library is much more lively than libraries of the past. But hopefully you'll agree that the libraries today offer so much more. We have over 900 people visiting the library (at Victory & Five Mile) on any one day. It is difficult for that many people to be quiet! And our staff loves their work and helping patrons. You will notice our Patron Rights and Responsibilities policy posted near the front door. It indicates that excessive cell phone ringing or loud conversations are not allowed. If a cell phone rings, we ask that the person answer it and then move to the patio or front entrance to continue their conversation.
Also, the Unlock the Secrets of the Library's Online Resources class still has openings on Thursday evening, so sign up soon. The Wednesday class is no longer available.

I think that it's great that
I think that it's great that the library provides computers for patrons to use. What I don't think is great is when these patrons' cell phones ring or the patrons make calls on their cell phones while in the library, not leaving the library during these calls and talking loudly during their conversations. This disrupts others and I feel that it is rude for them to do so. I always thought that libraries were supposed to be "quiet",which brings up the point of very loud children in the library and their parents not keeping them quiet and not educating them in library etiquette. Also, the employees checking out the books are heard discussing non professional things which can be heard throughout the library when they should be acting professional and helpful at all times. Thank you.
