New Year -- New Databases

Happy New Year to YOU! You will notice some changes on our Resources list of electronic databases. The LiLI Databases, provided by the Idaho Commission for Libraries, will now be offering ProQuest Central for magazine articles, ProQuest Family Health for health related articles, and ProQuest HeritageQuest for genealogy, in addition to several other databases they have already. A new database they are providing is the Wilson Art Museum Image Gallery with thousands of art images. The LiLI databases are made available to the entire state of Idaho, either through your local public or school library webpage, or the LiLI website. You will also notice that the PowerSearchPlus option is no longer available. We are exploring other methods of allowing a simultaneous search of multiple databases. What are my predictions for the three databases likely to be used the most in 2009? Learning Express, which offers school and job tests to practice taking online, could be very useful in our current economic situation. HeritageQuest will continue to have great usage as people are interested in learning about their roots and ancestors. MyLibraryDV, downloadable videos of current movies, classic movies, and children's programming, should take off as more people look for inexpensive at-home forms of entertainment. What three databases are you going to use in 2009? We'd like to hear from you about your favorites.
