A slide-illustrated presentation by Richard W. Etulain, presents Lincoln’s links with the American West from the Oregon and Mexican War controversies through the college land-grant legislation. Also discussed are Lincoln’s contacts with Indians, Mormons, and regions of the Pacific Northwest, California, the Southwest and the Great Plains.

Richard W. Etulain is Professor Emeritus of History at the University of New Mexico. He taught previously at Northwest Nazarene University and Idaho State University. In 2008-09 he served as Centennial Professor at NNU. He has published widely on the American West and is writing a book on Abraham Lincoln and the American West.
