Get a Library Card

You can begin the application process online with our kid’s card brochure with application [PDF] or our adult/family application [PDF]. Simply print it, fill it out, and bring it in with photo ID and proof of address to either our main library on Victory and Five Mile, our Star Branch, or our Hidden Springs Branch library.

The Ada Community Library is a member of the Treasure Valley Open Access and the LYNX! Consortium. Participating libraries include:

If you are a resident of a city or district library listed above, you have instant access to the collections of all the participating libraries. Residents of the city of Boise, Garden City, the city of Eagle or the Ada Community Library district may go to any of these four libraries to get a library card. Residents of the other library districts must first go to their "home" library to get a card. Your card can then be used at any participating library.

You may borrow circulating materials from any of the participating libraries and have the materials delivered to the most convenient location. With daily courier service between libraries, materials move quickly. Except in a few cases, you may pick up materials at one library and return them to another library, if you wish.

All patrons are subject to the rules, fine policies, loan periods, grace periods and other regulations of the library from which they borrow materials or request services.

If you live outside the library district boundaries, you are welcome to purchase a yearly family non-resident card for $53.00 (the cost of two hardback books at the store).

When you apply for a library card, you will be asked to provide:

A current picture I.D., such as a driver's license.

  1. Proof of your current residency. Most of the time your drivers license will show your current address and that will be all you need. However, if your picture I.D. does not have the current address you will need to provide one of the following before your library card(s) can be issued:
    1. Your most recent utility bill or very recent mail you have received at your current residence address. If you have a P.O. Box, you will need to have mail (such as a utility bill) that would show your residence address, not just your mailing address.
    2. Current checkbook with current address imprinted on checks.
    3. The most preferred proof of address is your tax assessment notice.

You may get cards for every member of your immediate family who currently resides with you and you are the parent or legal guardian. Your card is for your use only and is not transferable. If your card is lost or stolen, or you move, please notify the library (or libraries if you have cards at more than one) immediately. You are responsible for any and all items checked out on your card until the library is notified. Please remember to bring your card each time you visit your library.
