Lake Hazel Branch


Summary

Located in southwest Ada County, near the corner of Lake Hazel and Five Mile Roads, the Lake Hazel Branch Library serves as a community hub for a growing area of our district. It encourages community interaction and offers resources for recreation, lifelong learning, formal education, and professional endeavors. The full-service library offers a warm and welcoming environment with computer and Internet access; books (arranged “bookstore” style); movies, music and games; spaces for group and individual study, large meetings and activities; relaxing reading areas; and a variety of programs for all ages and interests.

Public Service Features

  • 13,000 square feet of public space
  • 30,000-40,000 books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, movies, music
  • 18-32 public computers with Internet and software applications and 2-4 preschool discovery computers
  • Wireless access for laptop and handheld device use
  • Comfortable chairs for relaxing, as well as table seating
  • Open 6 days a week, totaling 56 hours
  • Self-service checkout
  • Copy and fax access
  • Library programs for all ages, including:
    • Baby, preschool & toddler storytimes
    • Afterschool & teen programs
    • Computer classes
    • Book clubs & other special programs
    • Family Game Nights

  • “Living Room” with electric fireplace and comfy chairs for reading & socializing
  • “Teen Cave”
  • Preschool “Room to Grow”
  • “Family Room” for reading together or homework help
  • “Internet Café” and “Marketplace” (new materials) area
  • 1,500 SF multipurpose room (seating for 100 in chairs, 200 seated on floor)
  • Individual/quiet and group study rooms (A/V equipment available)
  • Audio-visual equipped Computer Lab with adaptive equipment
  • Audio-visual equipped 1,500 SF multi-purpose room
  • Media area with listening station

Read Me Treasure Valley

We are pleased to officially kick-off Read Me Treasure Valley – featuring Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.

This book is one that adults will enjoy reading or re-reading but it is also one the entire family can enjoy together. Check out the book (available in many formats) and enjoy a variety of events and activities between now and March 15.
