Programs Galore!

Summer Reading is in full swing here at Star, and we have plenty of stuff to keep you interested! Aside from our huge collections of books, CDs, movies, video games, playaways, and other resources, we also have programs. Unlike during the rest of the year, programs are pretty frequent during the summer.

On Mondays, we have a story time/craft. On Tuesdays, we have a special event for all ages (last week's was a puppet show and the week before that was a magician). On Wednesdays, we have an art/craft program, where kids get to make all kinds of creative stuff. On Thursdays, we have a teen program, which can be anything from eating some pizza and talking about books or rocking out and playing Rock Band! We don't have anything going on Friday or Saturday (we have to rest sometime!), but that's no reason not to visit.

Summer Reading

Now that summer reading has started, do you need something to read? If you're not sure what to pick up next, you can try a couple things. Our staff picks are near our new books table and are books that we recommend. Also, you can just talk to us and ask us if we've read anything good lately. Don't forget that books on CD and cassette count too, so be sure to browse through our collections!

Free Online Tutoring!

We’re really excited to announce that we have a new service: Live Homework Help. It is available through our website every day from 3-11pm. It can be accessed from within the library without a library card, or from home with an ACL library card. Students K-12, College Intro, and Adult Learners will be able to connect to live one-on-one professional tutoring in a variety of subjects. It’s also available in Spanish. For more info about the tutors or the company follow these links:

We are the first library in Idaho to offer this service and we’re really excited about this easy to use, relevant service.
