Why is it a pick?

Cap Anderson has spent his whole life on an isolated farm commune and has never watched TV or eaten pizza. All that changes when his grandmother breaks her hip and he is forced to attend the local middle school. Naive Cap is oblivious to the pranks that are being played on him. And when he is elected (as a joke) as class president he reacts in a way no one expects.
