Volunteer At The Library

Teen Volunteers
for ages 13-17

We have two teen volunteer options depending on the number of hours you want to volunteer at Lake Hazel Branch.

Adult Volunteers
for ages 18 and older

Thank you for your interest in being a volunteer at Lake Hazel Branch! Volunteers have helped out at the library for more than twenty years. The work done by our volunteers is appreciated very much. You can view current adult volunteer opportunities at Lake Hazel Branch on our VolunteerMatch page.

Current Volunteer Jobs as assigned by Volunteer Coordinator:

  • Process books and other materials (stamping, jacketing)
  • Straighten books and materials on the shelves
  • Assist the Friends of the library with book sales and projects
  • Help with the summer reading programs
  • Offer specialized programming
  • Maintain and support library operations
  • Help with notifications
  • In-house enhancement as directed (seasonal decorations etc)
  • Outdoors programming support
  • FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY activities

Other Information about being a Volunteer:

  • Adult volunteers must be 18 years old and older
  • You must complete an application and agree to a background check
  • Volunteers will be trained to perform the volunteer job and will be supervised by Staff or the Volunteer Coordinator
  • Volunteers are to follow the same work and behavior code as Library employees
  • Volunteers are to sign in and out to keep a record of their work hours
  • A record of total volunteer hours will be kept on file for at least 2 years
