LiLI, Libraries Linking Idaho databases (LiLI-D) are provided by the Idaho Commission for Libraries and Idaho Public Schools. Additional support for LiLI-D comes from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. LiLI-D funds ProQuest, eLibrary and most Gale databases. All other databases are funded by Ada Community Library.
Database Usage: Anyone may use these databases from our computers within the library. Due to licensing agreements with the database providers, you must have a library card issued by Ada Community Library to use the databases from any location outside the library. All users are responsible for adhering to copyright laws and database licensing agreements and restrictions.
eBooks and Audiobooks Now Available for Download
Submitted by mary on December 5, 2011 - 10:00am.
Ada Community Library staff are very excited to inform you that we have officially expanded our services regarding digital media. Library cardholders can now download a variety of best-selling audiobooks and eBooks from the library’s OverDrive website (id8.lib.overdrive.com) anytime, anywhere!
The digital collection currently offers just a few hundred teen and adult popular fiction and non-fiction titles to choose from but, as with our print material collection, this digital collection will continue to grow each month.
You can browse the collection, check out with your library card, and download to PC, Mac®, and many mobile devices. To get started, you will need to install free software. For audiobooks this means OverDrive® Media Console™. To read eBooks, you’ll need Adobe® Digital Editions. Titles can be enjoyed immediately or transferred to a variety of devices, including iPod®, Kindle, Nook, Sony® Reader™, and many others. You can return eBook titles early as a courtesy to other readers, but all titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period so there are no late fees!
This new service, made possible through a collaboration of eight Idaho libraries and powered by OverDrive, is free for patrons through their library card. To get started downloading audiobooks, eBooks, and more, visit the library’s website at www.adalib.org and look for the OverDrive link, go directly to the library’s OverDrive website at id8.lib.overdrive.com, or stop into your local branch for more information.
We hope you enjoy this new service!
Value Line Investment Survey Now Available
Submitted by terri on July 27, 2011 - 12:56pm.
Value Line Investment Survey is a well-known financial newsletter which tracks stocks and industries that will provide online access to their analysis, charts, commentary, and rankings. This research tool, which the library had previously been purchasing in print form, is now available online for library users in-house and remotely for Ada Community Libraries library card holders.
Downloadable Audiobooks Available Again
Submitted by dylan on July 27, 2011 - 10:25am.We previously announced that our downloadable audiobook collection was being transferred from NetLibrary to OneClickDigital. However, we were wrong about our downloadable audiobooks being transferred to OneClickDigital, as they have instead been made available with our EBSCOhost databases. We apologize for any confusion our previous announcement might have caused.
The easiest way to access our downloadable audiobooks now is to use our online library catalog. Just include the word "netlibrary" with your search and look for results that have a format of "Sound File". When you find an audiobook you would like to download, click the www.netLibrary.com link to be directed to the download button in EBSCOhost. You will be prompted to sign into your EBSCOhost account or create a free EBSCOhost account if you don't have one yet. You'll also have to install EBSCOhost's Download Manager software in order to download audiobooks and transfer them to portable devices.
Another way to access our downloadable audiobooks is to use our link to EBSCOhost in the Resources section. After entering your library card number, you will arrive at an EBSCOhost page to choose which databases you wish to use. Near the middle of that page is a link to the audiobook collection. After clicking on that link, you'll be able to search just the downloadable audiobook collection.
If you experience any problems downloading audiobooks, please use our Ask It features to contact us for help. We are also currently investigating other services to provide you with downloadable audiobooks and ebooks, so please let us know if you have any suggestions or feedback.
Downloadable Audiobooks Say Goodbye NetLibrary, Hello OneClickDigital
Submitted by dylan on July 22, 2011 - 12:42pm.UPDATE: Our downloadable audiobooks are available again, but not through OneClickDigital. Please read this post for details.
Our popular downloadable audiobook collection is being transferred from NetLibrary to OneClickDigital. Unfortunately, NetLibrary has already closed but OneClickDigital is not yet ready for us to use, so our downloadable audiobooks are temporarily unavailable. We are working as fast as we can to enable access to our downloadable audiobooks in OneClickDigital and we will let you know as soon as they are ready. Thank you for your patience!
In the meantime, don't forget that you can checkout audiobooks on CD at any of our library branches or place a hold to pick up an audiobook at any of the LYNX! Consortium libraries. Also, if you have a Boise Public Library or Garden City Library card, they have downloadable ebooks and audiobooks for you too!
