This book is about three kids Mallory, Jared, Simon, who find out where Mulgarath's secret lair is, in the junk yard. But when they try to ambush Mulgarath he sends his guards to defend himself. Then they are captured by Mulgarath's guards and find themselves chained up in the junk yard. Then they heard a noise, it was their pet phoenix. Phoenix swooped down and killed the guards. But then a dragon attacks the phoenix. The trio escapes during the battle and goes to a castle made of junk, while they are wandering through the castle they are again ambushed by guards, and Jared is slashed on the arm by a guard. As soon as they arrive in the dining hall the door slams shut behind them. Then they climb a large stairway leading to a room containing their parents, when Jared notices that they aren't their parents after all it was Mulgarath!
