Why is this a pick?:
Jake doesn't like to sleep in his bed, but his parents are tired of having him sleep in their bed, so they tell Jake to pick another spot for all of them to sleep. Hilarity follows. I love this and all of Michael Wright's "Jake" books (three to date). The pictures are in a bright cartoon style, with interesting perspectives and humorous details. The rhyming text adds to the laughs, especially when read aloud.

Jake Goes Peanuts

Why is this a pick?:
Written in rhyming verse with bold and humorous illustrations, all of Michael Wright’s Jake books are fabulous, but this is my favorite. Jake is a VERY picky eater. He wants peanut butter sandwiches for every meal. So his parents come up with a plan: put peanut butter in everything for a week. The results are hilarious. Jake Goes Peanuts is sure to become a favorite of many parents as well as children, whether they’re picky eaters or not.
